![]() ![]() Since I manage photos in Lightroom, all I have to do is press the Save Metadata command shortcut and it generates an XMP file. If it is just about developing, they are about equal. Or when I want to work with photos outside the Lightroom catalog. I try to tag in Bridge but so many productivity conveniences are missing, that I go back to Lightroom.īut I will use Bridge when I need to work with more file types than photos, because Lightroom only works with a limited number of photo file formats. Bridge is very feature-dry when it comes to the Library functions, when you really take a close look. You get more library features in Lightroom, and many more shortcuts and options. With bridge, you get the same library features as Lightroom with the ability to tag and rate photos, except you're just browsing your hard drive. I started out with ACR & Bridge, then went to Lightroom and will never go back. A lot of people like Camera Raw and Bridge more than Lightroom. What are some advantages of using Lightroom vs Camera Raw? They seem to do the same thing. Plus, when you go to backup your work, it only has to backup the raws once, and when you make a change in Camera Raw, the xmp file is only a few KB and backup very quickly.Īnyone else use this type of workflow or am I completely crazy? Once again, you have no control over the xmp files when using that setup either. ![]() I tried Lightroom Classic and I found it to be very slow compared to Bridge + Camera Raw and I also tried Lightroom (cloud version) and Adobe seems to want to force you to upload all your photos to the cloud which isn't very handy since I only have 20GB. It just seems way easier than worrying about a catalog file and having all of your edits stored inside one file. I say this because sometimes I will re-edit a photo while at work, then I just copy my xmp to a flash drive, get home and copy it to my computer and boom, there are my new edits. xmp files to the other computer (provided that I already copied the raw files). Then, if I want to transfer those edits to another computer, I simply copy my. Once the edits are made, the thumbnail updates in bridge and a little symbol appears showing that the file has been cropped or edited. Then, if you wanna edit your photo, simply double click and Camera Raw opens up. ![]()
